Charter Boats

Charter Boats Available!

We're pleased to confirm that J/Boats Southwest is arranging for a number of J/70s to be available for charter for the J/70 North Americans. Additionally, there may be several privately owned boats available (a list to be published) by direct arrangement with the owners.

We are anticipating high demand for boats and wish to accommodate J/70 owners by offering these charter boats for this event.

Boat Specification

Boats will be provided with docking equipment (fenders & docklines), lifting straps, and all class required gear. The running rigging package includes one set of halyards, sheets and control lines and one winch handle. Competitors must bring their own sails, compass, GPS, VHF radio, lifejackets and any spares and personal effects.

Charter Term & Fee

The standard charter term is from 0900 Wednesday, May18 to 1700 Sunday May 22. The Charter fee for a new J/70 is US$2,500. Charter rates may vary for privately owned boats depending on the charter period and delivery expenses.

Condition of Boat at Delivery & Return

New charter boats will be pre-measured, pre-rigged with masts up and in the water at the event piers upon check-in. Competitors will be responsible for completing sail measurement and registration. At the close of the regatta, competitors will be asked to redeliver the boats to a designated area in the Lakewood YC harbor, unrig the boat (details to be confirmed), remove all tape, sponsor decals and markings, and clean the interior and exterior, before presenting the boat for check-out. No modifications to the boats are permitted without prior permission from J/Boats Southwest, as all the boats are pre-sold to new owners.

Insurance

A special insurance package is being organized for the new charter fleet and is required for all charters. The cost of US$375 is in addition to the charter fee. The insurance provides damage coverage for the boat and third party liability coverage of $500,000. This policy will satisfy all of the competitor insurance requirements listed in the Notice of Regatta, such that no additional coverage or evidence of coverage is required.
